Weekly Reflection
Each week I share a gentle Scripture-centered reflection to help you slow down, reconnect with God, and carry His peace into everyday life.
Rooted, Not Rushed
Colossians 2:6–7
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
There is a quiet pressure that follows many of us through our days. It does not always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it simply whispers: you should be further along by now.
It shows up in the way you compare your pace to someone else's progress. In the restlessness that settles in when things feel still. In the subtle belief that if you could just do a little more, move a little faster, produce something visible, then you would finally feel okay.
But here in Colossians, Paul does not say hurry into Him. He says be rooted in Him.
That word, rooted, is not passive, but it is not hurried either. It is the language of a tree whose growth is happening somewhere you cannot see. Beneath the soil. In the quiet. Long before any fruit appears, the roots are doing the most important work of all.
God is not measuring your value by your momentum. He is not impressed by your busyness, and He is not concerned that your growth looks slow from the outside. What He is tending to is the part of you that goes deepest, your trust, your identity, your capacity to remain connected to Him even when everything around you feels like it is moving too fast.
Lasting peace is not found at the end of your to do list. It grows in the stillness of staying near.
A Gentle Application
This week, choose one moment each day, even just five minutes, to simply be before you do. Before the phone, before the tasks, before the noise of the morning reaches you. Sit with the Lord. Not to ask for anything. Not to check something off. Just to remain. Let that be enough. Because it is.
A Quiet Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the moments I have mistaken busyness for faithfulness. Teach me what it means to be rooted, not restless. Remind me that You are doing something real in me, even when I cannot see it. Help me to slow down enough to trust You. Today, I choose to remain in You. That is enough. Amen.
